ARTIST STATEMENT
Transferring intangible memories into a tangible soul; that is what art should be and more importantly, that is what I aspire my art to represent. My surroundings and memories of my loved ones have been my biggest influence in creating my art. Memories are very important as they can be a conversation between two people that make emotional bonds together. My jewelry and vessels are manifest pieces of my heart and soul.
My creations are a reflection of my soul. During this time of pandemic, I became so lost that even the memories that I have shared with my loved ones couldn’t lift me up.I couldn’t lie to myself to create something that wasn’t reflecting my soul. I was struggling to figure out my identity not only as a person, but also an artist.
So I got back to the basics. I started to carve multiple signet rings, also known as chevaliere, which are the rings that hold millenia-old symbols of family and personal identity. My signet ring series are unmarked because I am yet to find my identity.
The hope of what I can become, the hope of the struggle I am going through is really something that I’m just experiencing to truly reconnect with myself later at one point or another. Blank slates leave me a blank canvas. All I have to do is keep living and find out my identity as it is still in the progress of unfolding itself.
